Color Custom Options is a Magento extension for Magento products with custom options. With Color Custom Options your customers can see how a product looks like in different colors, shapes or designs. This Magento extension associates drop-down custom options with images. The extension requires images and thumbnails to be saved in folders for each product. If the Magento extension cannot find a certain thumbnail, placeholder thumbnails will be used instead. Custom options with images and without images can be mixed freely. With this Magento extension you can use file types of your choice and mix them as you like: JPG, GIF or PNG. The Magento extension works with AJAX technology. In order to build the compound image, the extension overlays the images for the different custom options over each other. In this way you don’t have to save images for each possible combination of custom option values. You can define different prices for the custom options.

The product configuration required by this Magento extension is identical with the standard configuration of products with custom options in Magento. In addition to the configuration of the products in Magento, you would need a separate folder for each product that contains the images and thumbnails for its custom options. For each custom option value you would need two images – one thumbnail image, and one big image, that will be overlaid over the product image.

The compound image cannot be magnified with the default Magento zoom, but you could attach additional images to your product and have them pop up in a new window. You can vary position and size of the thumbnails, as well as change the color of the border around the selected thumbnail. You can use your own custom set of thumbnails - any images of any size can be used as thumbnails, they don't need to be plain squares as in our live demo. Products and custom options are recognized by the extension automatically.
