Color Swatches is a Magento extension for configurable products. With Color Swatches your customers can see how a product looks like in different colors, shapes or designs. Color Swatches enables switching the product images and prices on the fly. In this example, the configurable feature is the color of a product, but one can use the extension with any other product feature, e.g. shape, size, design and so on. With the extension the stock of the associated simple products is managed, too. The plug-in uses the Magento product base images and thumbnails and supports one configurable attribute, one thumbnail and one image per product. For the images and the thumbnails you can use any pictures and have them in a size of your choice. Each product may have different price which is updated automatically, when you switch between the simple products. You can also specify that some of your configurable products use the Color Swatches Magento extension, and others don't. The Color Swatches Magento extension doesn't affect the standard Magento functionality, it extends existing default Magento functionality. For example, if you have the Magento zooming feature enabled, you will also be able to enlarge the image of the product. Clicking on the "Add to Cart" button causes the selected product to be added to the cart with the correct attribute value and price. You can set the thumbnail of the simple product to be shown in the shopping cart on checkout. You can use your own custom set of thumbnails.

The product configuration required by this Magento extension is the same like the standard configuration of configurable products in Magento.

This Magento extension supports only one configurable attribute in the attribute set. If you have many attributes in the attribute set, this Magento extension is not suitable for your Magento online store.
