Color Attributes is a Magento extension for configurable products. With Color Attributes your customers can see how a product looks like in different colors, shapes or designs. Color Attributes enables switching the images and prices on the fly. In this example, the configurable features are shoe color, background color and background texture of a product, but one can use the extension with any other product features, e.g. shape, design and so on. With the extension the stock of the associated simple products is managed too.

The product configuration required by this Magento extension is identical with the standard configuration of configurable products in Magento. In addition to the configuration of the products in Magento, you need one or more images for each possible attribute value combination. The Magento Plug-in supports many configurable attributes and many images per attribute value combination. In this example the following attribute value combinations have more than one image: [yellow, -, -], [blue, white, -], [red, white, none]. For the images you can use any pictures and have them in a size of your choice. The attribute value images should be named using the following convention: <admin code of attribute 1>_<admin code of attribute 2>_..._<admin code of attribute N>.<file_type>, whereas the file type should be the same for all images (it is JPG here). In case the Magento extension cannot find the image corresponding to the drop-down selection, the image of the configurable product is shown instead. For each configurable product you need a separate folder with the images corresponding to the attribute value combinations.

You can also specify that some of your configurable products use the Color Attributes Magento extension, and others don't. The Color Attributes Magento extension doesn't affect the standard Magento functionality, it extends existing default Magento functionality. Clicking on the "Add to Cart" button causes the selected product to be added to the cart with the correct attribute values and price.

You can specify, whether a loading image is shown or not during Magento is loading the new image. You can set a different loading image, if you like to do so. You can use this software with the standard Magento zoom. You can vary position and size of the additional images, as well as change the color of the border around the selected additional image. You can set the image of the simple product to be shown in the shopping cart on checkout.
